The Reason for the Season

It's the most wonderful time of the year! A time for the twinkle of Christmas lights, holiday gatherings, baking, gifting, and so much more. But December can also be a season of hustle; squeezing in end-of-year events, scrambling to coordinate gifts, and taming restless energy of little ones anxiously awaiting Christmas day. As you enter into this month, we encourage you to take time to pause and remember what it's all for. Yes, there is magic in creating your own winter wonderland for your kids, but the real reason we're decorating and celebrating is Jesus. So, whether you are ringing in the joy all month long or finding yourself sinking into overwhelm and anxiousness, remember Jesus. He came to the world for all of it - both our joys and sorrows - and this month, above all else, let us remember the birth of our Savior.

Sometimes we forget that the true meaning of Christmas is to celebrate Jesus' birth - our savior coming from heaven to earth to save his people. So, what better way to remind our families of this than to have a birthday party for Jesus! It doesn't have to be big or elaborate, but making a cake and singing happy birthday can be a fun way to celebrate and center your kid's hearts around the true meaning of Christmas.

To take it a step further, you can make Birthday Cake Boxes to donate to those in need in your city. All you need is a box of cake mix, a jar of frosting, and a can of Sprite (download a free recipe card below!). Put it all in a disposable baking pan and load it up with other birthday items like candles, festive plates and napkins, and maybe a party hat or two (in Christmas colors of course!).
